The `year 2008 was yet another milestone in the development of Zambian music. We saw the release of many albums and we all admit there has been an improvement in the quality of the productions. Notable ones where among others trilogy by general ozzy, bobojani from Petersen ,Ngauleya from john Chiti,OC’s my name is OC,Runnel’s Panado and Ruff kid’s among others.Other interesting moments for the year were the releases of many singles who came on the scene like Shyman’s fendela fenduze ,boyd baize,and other contributions from the Digital X compilation.Therefore we will review the contribution of Recording Studios for the year.To begin with:
ROMA SIDE STUDIOS
the studios owned by producer TK,trevor Siyanda were able to produce The Third’s album called Charger.The album performed not the the expectations of the fans.Only two tracks received massive air play,these being Charger and Love madness.

Hamooba from the ex namanje fame also released a promo under Roma Side.the tracks chalo and naiwe wre general above average but lots of hardwork is needed from the young talented artiste.self proclaimed King of the dance hall Kayombo dropped his debut album and there were hits like Chindonga,peoples favorite just among others.Jonto was not left out of the system as he unleashed As a jonto.
CRYSTAL STUDIOS
To many this was one of the best studios of the year. Artistes under this studio include OC from the wache wasimbe fame, Tolo from the sweetie Olga family and Rackerman and not forgetting the smooth sounds of one john Chiti.The producers include Jerry fingers and Sebastian Mutale.The most impressive albums from this joint are undoubtedly john chiti and Oc.To many others are just average albums.

BENBLAZER STUDIOS
AH what a year he has had. Owned by ben from the copperbelt particularly kitwe.Ben has established himself fro little known to a big Producer of his time. He stared with the likes of Ephraim, Unique and now He has managed to produce big guns like Petersen,Ozzy,JK Shyman just to mention a few. To the author he is the Producer of the year.
DIGITAL X
Well this studio has the cream of young and talented artiste like Ruff kid, Slap D,damiano,pjay,massy,bels,Sutu,Makarina.Owned by one Gibson a grandaunt from UNZA. The main producer is Raydo.The studio was able to release ruff kids album & a compilation which featured artiste on the label.These were successful albums and they managed to entertain their faithful without fail.2008 was a great year for this studios situated in Olympia park. Major setbacks was the news that Slap D had left digital x after a bust up with Producer Raydo.Slap D has confirmed he is in the studios working on his second project, but not under Digital X,but XYZ studio that he owns.
